The Dance Centre
The Dance Centre is the primary source for information about dance in British Columbia. We offer information about hundreds of performances, companies and organizations through our website and the online BC Dance Directory. We promote British Columbia dance internationally, through our biennial West Coast dance platform Dance In Vancouver, and help connect our local dance scene to national and international partners through projects and exchanges.

One of the few celebrated festivals devoted to Flamenco Art outside of Spain, the Vancouver International Flamenco Festival has has grown from its beginnings in 1990 to a mature understanding of Vancouver’s multicultural audiences by nurturing the dance form’s hybridized roots in Sephardic, Persian, Gypsy and Indian cultures and by striving to reflect and connect its diverse, sociocultural identity through narratives underlining flamenco’s universal message of humanistic tolerance.

The company shares its passion for flamenco’s raw, emotional power and disciplined musicality through performances, workshops and professional training across Vancouver.
Vancouver Ballet Society
The Vancouver Ballet Society is a group of dedicated dance lovers incorporated to encourage the continuation of and instruction in the art of dance. Founded in 1946 the Vancouver Ballet Society continues to be a the only umbrella dance organization in continuous operation in British Columbia for over 70 years.

The Academy of International Dance Arts
Vancouver is a city of enormous diversity, and The Academy of International Dance Arts is proud to reflect this diversity through choreographies that fuse or are inspired by different national dance styles. Academy Director, Ms Elavia draws upon her extensive background in several international dance genres to create innovative works that express the flavour of ethnic/national dance arts.
The Jai Govinda Dance Academy
The Jai Govinda Dance Academy operates under the umbrella of Mandala Arts and Culture in Vancouver as a premiere school of the Indian classical style bharata natyam. Bharata Natyam is one of the many Indian classical dance styles. Originally performed in the temples of South India by the devadasis as an offering to the gods, bharata natyam survived abolition and near extinction, to be revived and brought up to the stage some 100 years ago.
New Works is dedicated to the promotion, advancement and management of dance and its related art forms. Dance is a powerful medium for helping children to grow physically, socially, and cognitively. The physical benefits of dance are obvious, but the emotional and social benefits need to be recognized also, as an integral part of why dance experiences are so valuable for young children.
New Works feels that dance builds community and empowers marginalized children and youth. That is why part of our mandate to bring dance into inner city elementary schools, and enable children to take part in this medium regardless of their socio-economic status.
Dancer Transition Resource Centre
The Dancer Transition Resource Centre is a national organization dedicated to helping dancers make necessary transitions into, within, and from professional performing careers. We operate as a resource centre for the dance community and general public and support activities that improve the socioeconomic conditions of artists across the country.
As a world leader in dancer transition, we are active participants in international conferences and research initiatives and help drive change within the dance community.
