“Dance provides a unique and powerful medium through which to communicate and express our deepest, innermost thoughts and emotions, transcending the cultural and geographical constructs of our world today. We are truly delighted to offer a platform in which an array of international artists are welcomed to present their own vision, honour ancient customs and traditions, remove barriers, and spark dialogue among us.
Through a thoughtfully curated program showcasing world-class artists from across the globe and right here at home in Canada, our continued goal is to be a catalyst for meaningful expression, connection, and conversation.”
The Vancouver International Dance Festival is produced and curated by Kokoro Dance directors Barbara Bourget and Jay Hirabayashi in partnership with other Vancouver dance presenters. The Festival presents local, national, and international dance artists in performances and workshops intended to stimulate dance creation, knowledge, and appreciation. The Vancouver International Dance Festival takes place annually in March. The festival has no aesthetic boundaries. We are interested in work that is physically visceral. We are interested in work that engages and challenges audiences.
